So today I woke up and felt a little knot in my lower back, so being 23 I didnt really take it too seriously. Anyway, got into my S, and well, lets just say I had to pull over a couple of times because the stress my clutch leg puts on my back was soo painful to me all of a sudden today. I figured Id feel better by the end of the work day, but I got in again, and the pain was Horrible... I was barely able to depress the clutch pedal.

This is one time Im looking forward to visiting the Dr... but Id better not hear, "you cant drive manual anymore"... for that is my Worst fear

Is there any at home remedy you might know of? Help!
Sounds like it could be anything. From my professional opinion, I would recommend you see a MD or DC. I would assume that your pain is not a chronic one, and not of trauma, which would least likley to be disc. Maybe a sprain/strain but very hard to determine. A complete exam with ortho test would be the best.

Should you have pain shooting down to your knee, (posterior leg) then it could be a disc. (your Dc/MD will do KEMP's Test, and rotation on the lower spine to determine the bulge ans an MRI is necessary to determine the amount in (MM).

Go see a MD/DC, your spine is not something to you should take lightly. Problems detected early, can sometimes be treated properly. Prolonging things could further damage what could have been minimal.

Tore my right rotator cuff maxing out on the incline when I was 21. Doc went in and scraped me out. Ouch.

My Civic HB at the time was 5-spd. I was a poor college kid (lucky to have health ins) and had no other ride.

I shifted with left and steered with knees and left hand.

You will get better trust me.

Definitely get yourself checked out, and maybe some massage or physical therapy as well.

After my accident, I was told to stay away from low suspension sports car that I can feel all the bumps and I had to crawl in and out of because of the stress on the low back, but I should be back to normal in 6-9 months.

Hope it's nothing serious as my back.

Go see a physical therapist ASP. If treated early enough, it can be fixed and you will not have to go under the knife later on down the road. If you can not lift your toes it can be more serious than you think. Putting heat on your back and taking pain killers will not fix the problem.
I tried the toe trick... and thank God I could lift them... (I tipped my friend over) hehe... today I drove my cousin's Corolla (which I must say has some cushy seats) very comfy... but I miss my S... I have an appt. w/ my Dr. next week since I have a few days off... so I'll prob get a referal to a P.T. (Physical Therapist) and see what happens. Thanks for makin a fellow S owner worry less

I've been, and it wasn't much help. My nerve damage is unrelated to my back or anything like that.

when i was diagnosed with kidney failure, fully 75% of my blood was DEAD JUNK. No, I'm not exaggerating. The level of toxins in my blood was 40 TIMES what a healthy person's would be. I went pretty much a month or more with no kidney function. All of the urea/creatanine/junk pooled down in my legs due to gravity and (I guess, my doctors really don't know as no doctor I've seen has seen anything like this since the 60's) just started tearing up my nerves. To top everything off, I have horrid neuropathy (nerve damage) that causes EXTREME pain in my legs. Just imagine every pain center in your legs just firing constantly and that's it (Hot/Cold/Ache/Needle). I've been on all kinds of pain releivers. Just as a reference, Oxy was the WEAK one I was taking. Fentanyl, about the most powerful there is, was what I was on for over a year. Amazingly, I never got addicted...I guess genetics plays a part. Now, I'm on Methodone which is very effective in treating neuropathy.

I would go to physical therapy, I just don't have time. I go to dialysis 3.5 hours 3 times a week at night and work full time as a financial analyst. If I went to therapy I would have no time at all to myself...besides my energy level is LOW as I still only have about 75% of the blood that most people do (means less oxygen goes through my system). I've been doing the exercises they taught me myself and they seem to work. My toes have been gone for 2 years so they probably won't come back. No big deal, considering that I was 1 step from a wheelchair.

At the time of my diagnosis, I was looked at in awe by everyone as I was living/working/exercising on a 25% oxygen supply. They were amazed I was even alive, much less conscious. I attribute it to my running which helped my body use oxygen efficiently. Of course I think divine intervention played a part, too

I don't know why my legs started giving out. Nerves generally don't repair themselves, so it's strange they got better. I'm guessing that the toxins ate away the myelin sheath that covers all nerves and basically "grounded them out" preventing motor or sensory info from going to/reaching my brain (I've done a lot of research and this is my own hypothesis).
