Default Need advice on Indy USGP seating

I have never been to the USGP at Indy, but I am going this year. I was wondering if anyone had been before and could recommend a particular seating area. If you have any other tips those would be great.

Thanks,

My 2 cents.... Northwest Vista!

You will get to see the cars come down the main straight, go into Turn one, snake through several corners and then go off down the back short straight.

There are huge TV monitors and a good loudspeaker system to keep you posted as they run around the balance of the track.

I would be going again this year, but it conflicts with my fall driving school at Watkins Glen.

A couple weeks after 9/11, every morning I would get up and crank up Jimi Hendrex's national anthem, live from Woodstock - it was a group pleaser!

You should certainly try to get a good view of turn 1 as it has the best overtaking possibilities. We were in the paddock stands in 2000 and the most exciting part of the race was when Jacques Villeneuve nearly overtook Giancarlo Fisichella (is my memory working aright?) with only 4 or 5 laps to go. I'll bet the people with seats right on turn 1 loved it.

Turn 1 is the place to be. You can see almost the entire straight, the pits to some degree, and turns 1 through 5. Turn 1 has the best overtaking, the best probability for accidents and runoffs, and if you end up fairly low you can see the TV.

I would recommend sections H or J over the NW Vista.

NW vista is pretty good, but your seats could be pretty far from the track. Stand H is awesome if you're into the actual racing, and J looks to be at least as good if not better. If you're more into the start/finish and watching the pit activity, then any of these three sections would stink. Actually, unless ticket sales are really down, I think you'd be lucky to get any really good seats at this date. Unless you've got a hookup, of course.
