Update:

Well, we are moving out of that apartment. Actually I don't have my things there anymore, as of last weekend. Our official last day of lease is tomorrow, so discount on rent isn't going to happen. I brought it up to the management, but they said they couldn't do anything. It was just an "unfortunate event that happened, and [they] couldn't be held liable for lost time." I just filed a formal complaint to their corporate office, and the manager would be written up for not keeping accurate records of assigned parking spaces.

Hopefully they will give me my full deposit back (Yeah, right), as compensation for the "unfortunate event" that could have been avoided if they weren't so incompetent.

Also, I saw the car of the other person that got mine towed the next night. I thought about calling the towing company on him, as I have proof that it's my spot as well. I didn't end up doing it because I felt it wasn't really his fault anyways. That would have been fun, though.

i'd say try, but if nothing happens, dont bother. if you can make 150 in 6 hrs you'll have plenty more money to come and if you spend more working hours arguing with your management it wouldnt be worth it

Write a brief letter to them that fully documents the incident, and at the end politely state that therefore they owe you for your lost time at work. Sign and date it. That way it is documented. Send it to the front office and the management company-- that way the people at the headquarters can learn how incompetent your managers are.

DO NOT let them offer you $150 off your next month's rent because sure as shit somewhere down the road the "management company" will realize there is a discrepancy and come after you for the $150 you were short.

Demand a cashiers check.

Remember: They gave away something you have been rightfully RENTING. You PAID for that.

Also, get your car checked out and see if there was ANY damage from the towing. If so, I'd stick them for those repair costs at well.

This is all primarily out of principle-- any dumbshit who gets my S2000 hooked up to some damn tow truck gets to feel my wrath until I'm good and happy again.

Note that the letter is polite, but you don't need to be quite as polite in person.

I think you guys are way too hard on the guy who called the towing company. It's not his fault that he wasn't aware that he was sharing his parking space! Most people would do the same thing if they found another car in "their" parking space.

Definitely go after the apartment management and try to get some sort of compensation though
