Did you make sure all 3 plugs are in? (especially the yellow one for video?)
Did you turn your VCR or AV or whatever your aux jacked are labelled.
Could you have a "bad" yellow/video cable?

you will probably need to use the adapter to switch back and forth. the PS2 is more than just a PS2, its a DVD Player, with all the DVD Playing restrictions, such as 'macrovision' or whatever they call it for DVD's if it is something different. Thus, the picture becomes scrambled when going through a VCR. It needs to be going directly into the tele.

I have an APEX DVD Player, which you can bypass the copy protection, but the DVD Player kinda sucks for playing DVD's - not all, but some. It also plays CD's burned with MP3's on them. awe yea! and you can disable regional coding. oh well, but you gotta go directly to the TV so the adapater will be your only solution that I know of.

You can also get the RFU adapter for the PS2. This basically lets you connect to the TV via
the cable/antenna jack. Going through the VCR can screw up the PS2 DVD player.
