I have been through a number of hosting services for the sites I design. I am currently using www.winsave.com for a few sites and they have been reliable and affordable. They also offer domain name registration as part of the packages. Although I still use a 3rd party out of habit.

I said this once but I'm going to say it again. Before you go buying a domain and paying someone to host it check with your ISP. Many ISP's include webserver space as part of your Internet Access. If so, you've already got everything you need and all you need to do is ask for it.
