I still don't understand why they don't make convicted criminals do hard labor in prison. We all win: labor in exchange for the cost of maintaining prisons, cities get beautified, and they could probably even farm their own food like the old days as well.
Some criminals do work for the state while incarcerated.

If you work at the state dept of corrections building in Florida, all your janitors are inmates.

Also in FL, whenever there's a hurricane, frequently inmates will be out cleaning up the mess/debris left behind.

I think those who are calling to execute are talking about molesters who murder their victims.

Unfortunately it costs taxpayers 10x more to execute a prisoner than to keep him in prison for life.

I wonder how much it would cost to castrate the molesters?

Never mind that sexual offenses go far beyond penetration with a penis. No longer having a penis will not stop someone from offending. I don't know much about "chemical castration," but maybe I'll go do some searching.

Yeah I didn't really mean it - more of an off the cuff remark. I've heard of a case where a convicted rapist was castrated and yet he still raped and murdered a woman after the castration.

I was thinking this is way too broad. I'm all for eye for an eye. I don't think it's cruel or unusual to gang rape one of these people with a dry splintery broom handle.
