I feel like a little kid making comments like this, but my dad definitely a several of those. He has 2, 3, 5, 6 possibly 4, but I think he might've had to get rid of it a few years ago for some legal reasons.

This is essentially a "starter" firearm, I would go with a revolver in the 38 caliber, probably with fixed sights. The wadcutter target round is inexpensive, perfect for practicing close fire (5-30 ft) for personal protection. As far as barrel length I would start with a four inch for accuracy/natural balance. After you become accustomed to shooting and proficient, then go for a firearm like some of the models mentioned in previous posts. Don't spend a fortune on your first firearm!

Anyone doubting the 38 round need only try some wadcutter rounds that have been inverted.
