what do you guys think about the .name thing? also .biz,.info, etc.

 

What happened to the good ol days when domain names were free for the asking? I don't care, they are of little interest.

 

I sold a dot com domain name last year for 17.5K Australian. I had bought it for a legit purpose (a portal site) and a bigger richer company decided they liked the concept.

I think .com is stil the jewell in the cown of domain names. Not sure about these newer ones. Anything decent is taken by the registrar these days and they want outlandish prices for them.

Hope I can pull it off again one day

 

I think the .name thing is pretty good. I also like the .tv thing since I work in the digital video industry and it's a nice gimmick.

The .biz, .info and eveything else is getting to be a bit much. I can barely remember .org, .gov, and .net.
