Verizon are doing Direct TV, DSL and phone line as a package deal here in NJ.

You can keep the cable modem (for a slightly higher per month charge) and use Direct for your TV.

I did.

You need a DVR!( Digital Video Recorder.)

I also retail DISH Network.

There are great promotions this month with both companies. Free everything.

Most of my customers just keep their internet through their cable or phone company and get service with either DirecTV or DISH.

DVR costs extra... its hard enough for a college student to get by T.T
i just stick with the basic directTV package+ my comcast high speed internet. if i switch over i think they'll gimme a better deal.

Maybe this was true at the time when you signed up. The DVR is free now. It does have a $5.00 monthly fee.
