Except they're losing some market share and certainly losing a lot of public support. Mac OS and *nix are making a good showing...I would have to say Microsoft needs to up their product quality to compete or be left in the dust.

For now, people use Windows because it is familiar. As that changes from people being exposed to other OSes, MS will have less of a lock on the OS market.

yay, by the end of summer 2006, windows vista will definitely compete with mac os 10.4..

meanwhile, mac os 10.5 will have come out 2 months earlier with 500 new and improved features over OS 10.4..

HAHA

i hope Vista will be good. i really do.
You cant be serious, are you?

Mac? HAHAHA

I got one for sale, I hate the damn thing. It was about as much fun as Linux. Both are nothing more than a novelty.

I have NEVER had a problem with Windows XP. I find it much more stable than 98/ME and more functional. I don't see a need to upgrade unless the new OS is that much better, which it probably isn't.

The fact that you think OS X is worth a damn.

Windows only dominates the personal computing OS market, and even that was not forever, only recently. Microsoft usually buys the last laugh.

I don't run around telling every Chevy Cavalier owner that their car is crap, and I don't think we should tell people that their computer OS is crap. Let Windows users be happy with what they have - no need to rain on their parade.

The new Windows will be a big improvement on XP, regardless on where it stands to OSX. I'm glad MS is finally revamping their OS after like 5 yrs - its already way overdue, even if it is missing 2/3 of its original promised functionality.

And shouldn't this be in the computer forum?

at least windows xp is better than that pos os 9.. i tried os 9. sucked badly.. never gonna touch a mac os again...

i'd care less if os x is base on unix or wutever.. they had their chances within past decade or so. they failed to convert the masses....

linux?? hah. thats a joke.. linux will never be for the masses. the masses dont need linux. masses need windows..

Because MAC/UNIX/LINUX does not suit suit everyones needs as a whole. I dont understand why so many people bash Microsoft. Windows has been around for close to 20 years and a majority prefer to use it because its a good solid OS.

The only reason you never hear about how Mac's and Linux systems are inferior or unsecure are because less than 20% of the worlds population actually use those systems. It's obvious Windows will get attacked by the command line wannabe hacker crowd... it's the most used OS in the world.

With the exception of video editing, no major (or desireable) player in the market makes games or other mainstream software that will work with a Mac or Linux.
