No S2000 for me :(
I think this is my first post on the board. Completely disappointed it's not a positive one. I Was hoping that within a couple of weeks I'd be an official member and owner, but it's not going to go that way.
I suppose it's not that big of a deal, I'm only 20, I've still got a lot of time left. Problem is I can't front enough money for a down payment to get the monthly payment managable. The parents were going to spot me 2-3k interest free but looks like they can't. So I'm stuck being envious of you guys and driving my 7 year old 3000GT, which I think has reached the point of "time for some small things to start breaking".
On the otherhand, it was a 2000 with less than 200 miles for $29,900, does that sound like a bit of a rip off? I've found a better deal, and was going to try to haggle with the guy, because if I can get him to come down enough, I can afford it on my own completely. Anyways, sorry to gripe, just had to vent.

A year 2000 S2000 with less than 200 miles for $29,900 doesn't seem too bad.
However, in Europe (where cars are a little more expensive). You can get a S2000 2000 model for around 23000 Euros (with about 30000Km on the clock). Or if you willing to buy a vehicle which has been crashed and fully repaired by Honda (which I avoided) then you can get then from 18000-20000 Euros.
Therefore I expect you guys in the States to be able to get them cheaper. ie. a 2000 model with 20000 Miles for say $22000. Tell me if I am wrong.
In addition - travel to buy you car - the further your willing to travel the more S2000's there are to choose from. I had to travel 350Km to get my car (driving back was good - and fast
) however as a result I spent 2000 Euros less than my budget.
I've had mine for 4 days now and I have already used 4 tanks of fuel and done about 1600Km. It cost me 28000 Euros and is only 10 months old (crash free).

The CRX you have (or DEL SOL) isn't a bad motor. When I was at college I had a Austin Metro 1989 so don't complain.
However, I'm thinking of getting a CRX (or Integra Type R if the budget can stretch) for the winter. Anyone driver the Integra Type R in snow?
We get lots of snow in the winter (had one month solid snow last year and it reached -17) don't want to drive the S2000 in that!

I'm not sure what the car market is like up there, but you should be able to find a 2000 model year with average or high miles for $21,500 to $23,000 from a private owner. Don't be afraid of 30 to 40,000 miles, just get the service history. Most banks will still go 60 or 66 mos. on a '00. Hunt around on Edmunds.com, CarsDirect.com. I took in an average condition '00 with 28,000 miles for $23K. We spent about $1,100 in reconditioning and still only sold it for $25,000. Don't give up - GO HUNTING.

my car 9 years old... being a good del sol though... I want a s2000 so badly though...
