Default NorCal hella sucks

ok, so now that i'm in college i'm coming into contact with a lot more norcal folk, and starting to get extremely annoyed with the current norcal lingo. it seems that every other feaking word out of their mouths or written on AIM/Email is "hella." I am especially amused by those who say "hecka", because i just find that funny.

I have two anti-"hella" shirts now, one that says "SoCal:Happy to not be NorCal", the other says "Norcal Hella Sucks."

anyways, that just really irks me, and so many people have started saying it that i've taken to slapping my SoCal peeps if they do it. I refuse to condone the spread of this word!

P.S. Who's with me!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!(runs out like belushi in animal house)

Haha...I use the word "hella" a lot. Don't worry, though, I went to college in So Cal, and you guys over-use the words "random" and "sweet". Touche!

Oh yeah, and I have to admit, I like So Cal HELLA better than Nor Cal.

yeah, i slap my friends for those too...and socal folk have a bad habit of saying "i don't know" before or after every sentence.

Plus, ever notice how hella is pretty much universal in application? i mean, you can put it before of after pretty much any descriptive phrase, and people seem to get pretty creative with it. best i've heard was "Man, that band was hella sweet(there's your socal influence). They had hella bass though, my head is hella going to hurt when i wake up tomorrow."
^^no joke. 3 times. 2 sentences. i should make up a batch of medals to hand out when i hear golden statements like that.

Can I get a medal? I think I'd qualify several times a day by your criteria...

The portability of "hella" is one of the best things about it though! For me, "hella" is like the word "fvcking" - universally applicable, and it means whatever I want it to at the moment. For instance, the phrase "that's hella fvcking dope" constitutes an oft-used part of my vocabulary. Now where the Hell's my medal?

How's this...I'll take the Salton Sea and the Mojave, but I also want the San Fernando Valley. You can have the Inland Empire to compensate. Or, we can just have a battle royale for everything along the 405...UCLA / "sweet" versus Cal / "hella".

Only thing I know about the inland empire is that their Youth& government(YMCA Mock legislature program Program link/info ) gets really nice buses....and they are really nice as shuttles when you're at ahuge army base and the walk from session to the barracks is a mile each way...(Camp roberts, in San Luis obispo area for anyone who might be familiar with it). Any former Y&Gers around? sounds like a deal, i just want Diego and LA the rest of Cali except for San Fran isn't so hot...didn't someone just post a thread about the possibility of a massive earthquake literally splitting the state into pieces? now wouldn't that be ironic...

Haha- I'm the only "no" vote- hell yeah! And what's with the "take THE 101, THE 5" stuff??? No, it's "take 101 or take 5"...

I guess I'm biased, as I grew up in Norcal (Bay Area) and now live in Socal. Things I miss most are the family, the weather, and the drivers- I've had way more problems here in the past 2 years than ever, and I live in a more remote area. My car gets hit more by rocks on the Ontario area freeways than anywhere else. The people also seemed to care more about their community than they do here, but that might just be the city I live in. Ahh, the grass is always greener on the other side...
