I love my iPod and iPhone. No more fumbling around for CD's or radio stations. I could care less about trendiness. Functionality is what is most important to me. The iPhone is the best convergence device on the market and will lead the path for more devices like it in the future that all of us, even the haters, may eventually use.

other hardware that is just drag and drop is way easier to use than itunes, imo
What a useless statement - why not provide some examples? Drag and drop is an Apple construct fyi - everything in Mac OS is based on that principle. Drag the music into iTunes, drag it into your playlist, etc.

Personally, I use an iPod because it is part of a seamles end-to-end solution that allows me to manage and enjoy my music in many different locations. The music is on my computer, I can stream it to other rooms, I can sync it to an iPod and take it with me in the car, to other people's houses, etc.

That, plus podcasts, video, and its an external Hdd and has radio and recording capability. A lot of people are anti-hype and anti-main stream and are thus anti-iPod. I can see where they are coming from, but I think its funny that the anti-crowd used to be the ones who used Apple products. It just goes to show you that you can't please all the people all the time.

As far as i-anything, I love my iMac, with iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and even the non-i apps Apple has. Apple engineers an end-to-end user experience where everything works without issue, and that's why its so great. Its knocked down the barriers that seperated it from the rest of the PC market, and now its popularity is soaring (33% growth last quarter!). I guess with that you get scene kiddies and scene haters, but that's life.

I used Macs and Apple products before they were the it thing, and as long as they offer superior user experience to what else is out there, I will continue to do so.

Haters?
Are we the ones that notice all thats going on and chose to NOT follow?
O.K. then. If calling us haters is the best you got, please by all means use it. Just describe to us the peer pressure like, pointing us out, as such "haters" that are doing exactly as what seperates "haters" from "likers" or "followers" (That stand out so bad to the point its maddening. Which are also adding out how better it is for them and providing a hint to pressure into following such mainstream things)
Sorry guy, im just not that mindless animal that follows hype.. If im a "hater", get me the damn sig then.. I'll for sure exploit that I enjoy being able to notice such things and avoid them because im happy with what i've got, dont know how to move on, and have nothing better to do then to watch people's behavior like a scientist with mice in a maze.

Its funny that you would think I'm talking directly about you (I wasn't by the way). But, since you brought it up, according to your logic, you would have used an iPod until about 2005, when they really started to catch on, and then you would have actively abandoned it because it was the "in thing", right? Thats just not logical imo. I hate scene kiddies as much as you I'm sure, but I'm pragmatic, while you sound like you just want to distance yourself from the crowds. No problem there, I'm iconoclastic myself, but not to the point of cutting my nose to spite my face.

I use an iPod because its the best designed device out there, but I don't wear the white ear buds, they suck.

Some of you guys remind me of a roomate I had in college. He'd love a band right up until the point where they enjoyed even the slightest sucess and he'd immediately hate them claiming they "went commercial". It's amazing that in a few short years that Apple went from near death and being the ultimate underdog to being hated on ALMOST as much as Microsoft!

I've had an iPod since the 2nd gen. came out AFTER owning several Diamonds and Creative Lab's. The software that came with those was some of the worst ever written.

There is nothing better than popping it into the "secret" compartment and having access to everything I own through the head unit. I've had this probably close to 5 years and it's still works fine. Call me a fan.

Hey man chill!

You know in a postmodern context that the terms like "follower" mean nothing, basically.

The only way to escape that term is to live in the woods by yourself, and even then you'd be a "follower" because people already do that.

Take some pride in the fact that you do things according to their MERIT, but don't be prideful in the fact that you think you're any less of a follower or "individual" than anyone else.

so much drama. i AM sick of people buying into I-whatever hype just cuz it's fashionable. that's all I wanted to say. apple does make good products. It's just funny to see it be the hot thing when I was being ridiculed by most everyone else about 10 yrs ago for giving apple credit.

I think that some of their stuff (iphone) is over-hyped... but the Ipod really is the only option for MP3 players these days, unless you're just trying to be different. It's like 10 year ago when you couldn't get any windows programs to work with Mac... no matter how great the product is, you need other companies to support the platform. I can buy about 50 different cars that have an ipod connector, you can buy Bose and JBL Ipod docks, and I can walk into Target and buy a case or charger for it.

IMO, Apple only got huge in computers again once they started making it *so* easy to use PC apps on their platform. Now you can have a Mac and MS Office is actually cheaper than buying the programs for PC. Or, you can use Pages to make a .doc file. Plus, I attribute half of their rise to Microsoft making each new OS slower, more memory intensive, and more complex.

I just hope they stick to MP3 players and computers... I think stuff like their iTV or whatever it's called, and the iphone are going to flop soon enough...

Because some think Apple actually does make good products, we're mindless followers? Are you kidding?

I've been a fan of Apple since 1994, way before they went mainstream. Like it or not, the iPod is the standard for all MP3 players. Like it or not, the iPone is the best convergence device on the market today. Like it or not, Apple does make good computers. It has nothing to do with mainstream, trendiness or being cool. It's about buying what you think is the best product out there for you.

And using your logic, let's apply it to your choice of car. A Honda. Are you such a mindless animal that you have to buy a Honda like everyone else? Why not something less mainstream, like a Geo Metro? You too are a follower.
