not into the ipod or I-anything
i personally don't care much for techno gadgets either, but I just recently went out and bought an ipod shuffle, strictly for gym. ....and i love it! $79.00 with 1 gig of mp3s. that's all i need, nothing fancy, nothing 60gigs, etc. i don't get the animosity towards apple shown by some people.

3 years ago this Sept I bought Apple at around 17 3/4 . Check the price lately? I may not agree with the bald headed fart running the company to some degree. But I grin like a bastard when I see how much cash he has made for me. I have a crap load of his products scattered in the house. They meet my needs and all the isheep who drive up share prices fund them for me ,what's not to like?
As for filling the pod with music, news groups and FTP sites have stuffed mine.

After trying an a few other mp3 players and the crap software they came w/, I finally relented and bought a 30 GB iPod. Then I needed a light flash-based player, so I got a 1g shuffle (died during a wet, freezing 1/2 marathon). Then came a 4GB 1g nano for my wife, then a 8GB 2nd gen nano for me (I would have bought this only instead of the 30G and shuffle if it was out at the time). I have an iPod adapter in my truck, and had one in my car, both of which were operated via HU/dash/steering wheel controls. Now I have an iPhone, which is the best electronic device I've ever played w/, if perhaps a bit overpriced.
Then I bought a MacMini for a media server, and an AppleTV...both were bought NIB for dirt cheap off Craigslist from Apple employees who won them in contests.
So yes, I like their stuff.

I own a Mac and an iPod. I hate futzing with crap at home. I work on computers all day, I don't want to come home and have to deal with yet another two whiney boxes that need maintenance. Mac has the shim-layers that allow me to automate updates, and don't require me to second-guess how to work within multiple programs. It's intuitive and I can operate it while I'm brain-dead. That's a good thing.
What I'm getting at here is, there are no two people exactly alike, so why are so many people in these wild tribal wars to buy ONE computer that will solve EVERY problem for EVERY user ALL of the time? Come on, find out what kind of user you are, prioritize your needs and wants for the computer, and buy accordingly. FFS!!!!

Show me a better player than ipod then I'll follow.
Heh heh heh.
I actually don't know of a better player out there right now actually. I do believe Ipods are the best, but up until a week ago I spent the last 3 or 4 years with a Rio Chiba 256mb with a 1gb card in it
