I don't think that's harsh, probably the marfia thought him a lesson though ... In countries like Saudi Arabia or some Sharia law governed Muslim country, you gets your hands chopped off in public if you're caught stealing. Imagine what happens if you get caught or found guilty of rape?

Actually, they chop off your penis in public. I saw a MPEG clip once, someone sent it to me. This guy was being dragged to be a middle of some arena with alot of spectators including the rape victim, two holding him one on each side ... The other with a big sword put his penis on a chopping board and when swoosh ... He screamed and blood flowed, no joke.

I think this (the Polish way) is one of the best solutions to punish people. I've often secretly desired inflicting an humiliating sentence to some people, more than beating them up or suing them...
