we have wayyyy too many criminals with guns to start taking them away from our police officers. it'd take many years of very serious gun control to get the # of guns per capita in this country down to the level of england. different countries based on different principles.

The English. Do they carry guns? No.
The crime rate in the UK is bad and seems to be getting worse. The "gun" murder rate is lower than in the USA but part of that is in the way we count the crimes.

Gun crime is just part of an increasingly lawless environment. From 1991 to 1995, crimes against the person in England's inner cities increased 91 percent. And in the four years from 1997 to 2001, the rate of violent crime more than doubled. Your chances of being mugged in London are now six times greater than in New York. England's rates of assault, robbery, and burglary are far higher than America's, and 53 percent of English burglaries occur while occupants are at home, compared with 13 percent in the U.S., where burglars admit to fearing armed homeowners more than the police. In a United Nations study of crime in 18 developed nations published in July, England and Wales led the Western world's crime league, with nearly 55 crimes per 100 people.
Taken from: This article. Yes, I know it's an older article and likely full of holes. It's just used as an example.

In this case the cop was up against a bad guy with a gun in his hand. He fired his weapon to try to protect the person he killed. I don't think that makes him a bad guy or a bad cop. He may be both of those things but most likely something went very wrong while he was doing what he was hired and trianed to do.

Fair enough, I know its not as simple as I was making it, just kept it simple for impact. The answer IS to ban guns, from the criminals, the common man, AND the police. Only armies, who are paid to kill people should have such weapons designed specifically for the job.

10,000 volts will knock you just as flat as a .45 slug, only you can survive it. Again, I know it's not that simple, just a case in point.

The answer is NOT to ban guns.... look at statistics.... Since conceal and carry laws have been adapted in most states, crime has dropped. Only a REAL idiot now is going to go rob a gas station at gunpoint and not think about how many other people in the station have a gun too. You cannot take away guns from civilians because you will never be able to keep weapons from criminals.... thats why they are called criminals... how many criminals do you think have their guns registered?

Dude seriously?! If you BAN guns, outlaws and shit WILL still have them... ffs use some common sense. Im no NRA priest but I think people need to be allowed to defend themselves. Drugs are illegal, but people still get them, prostution is illegal but people still have it, the list goes on and on my friend.
