You're comparing internationally viewed sports vs a national level. Not a very good comparison.

Does radtech think the US cares about hockey?

But the truth is, 99% of Americans don't watch or care about hockey. And that figure rises to 99.999999% for curling. As a 20-year-plus research biologist and anthropologist, let me offer some insights on the physiological developments of these Arctic people, or so-called Canadians in the modern world.
On the outside, they look just like everyone else, like you and me. But beneath the epidermis, there lie a 1-inch-thick bear-like skin and 3-inch-thick solid fat layer as a protection apparatus in the frigid temperatures, a defense mechanism developed over many decades as they have acclimated to their Arctic environment. As such, if you were to bring one out of their natural habitat and suddenly into a warm place, such physiological apparatus would break down completely and will send the body into a violent cardiogenic shock, which after a couple minutes, will become fatal.
In addition, doctors over there do not use scalpels but machetes. Thus, they're required to complete 1 year of medical training in a meat factory to master their machete operating techniques, to cut through those 4-inch layers of defense apparatus in order to do any operation.
Let me know if you'd like to know any additional physiological facts, as this is my main area of expertise.
