Kobe grew up in Italy and speaks fluent Italian. I bet you didn't know that. Going to Europe post his athletic prime for big money he couldn't make here is called being smart. Factor in the exchange rate and its genius.
And there are some on this thread that call me ignorant....please.

Just because people call you ignorant doesn't mean you should try to nitpick other people's posts and try to shift the title. Doesn't work well.
These are why Beijing's opening was considered the best:
Most expensive: check;
Most man-powered: check;
Most elaborate: check;
Most attendance: check;
Most watched worldwide: check;
Most foreign presidents attended (over 100): check;
First U.S. president to have attended: check;
et cetera.
China is about to become the next superpower and the world's biggest economy; they shouldn't be underestimated. But I do hate Communists!!!

[QUOTE=GPMike,Aug 9 2008, 03:09 PM] ROFL!
Most of those track athletes are failed Football, Basketball, and Baseball athletes that couldn't get on a Football, Basketball or Baseball team in high school or college and used track as their fall into sport.

Almost $50 billion was spend in the 7 years to prepare for the Olympic.
The opening night ceremony cost an estimate $100 million.
15,000 performers and none of them repeat.
One of the largest LCD screen in the world (500 feet).
The National Stadium "Bird Nest" was build specifically for the opening ceremony.
I think this year opening ceremony make those previous one look laughable. I also feel sorry for London who is hosting the 2012 Olympic, LOL!!, good luck trying to be close to this one.
The Olympic is A WORLD COMPETITION so please leave your ignorant American ass home when you speak. Talking about American Football or baseball to a European or the rest of the world (beside Japan and South America on baseball) is like them talking to us about Rugby or the original soccer. There a ****in reason why THE WORLD have a competition every 4 years call THE WORLD CUP and not THE ****IN SUPERBOWL, WORLD SERIES(nice try to manipulate the English word) OR NBA FINAL(maybe someday). So shut ur yap, just because your ignorant ass don't know or watch, it doesn't mean the rest of the world don't also.

Actually it was one person away from being perfect.
Yes, I said it. One LESS person in the opening would have been better....
Because Bob Costas, who seemed to think he was broadcasting a sporting event and not a ceremony, would not STFU!!!!

Costas...was just a bit too much chatter.

There is more to the world of sport than NFL, MLB, and NBA. Atleast basketaball is accepted as an international sport.
I can't imagine NBC not having some sort of link to watch this on their website again?? It was indeed very impressive to watch. The coordination and the grand scale was impressive. China is not going to be out done. Its going to be very difficult to see anything like that in the future ceremonies to come.
