Here is the video....check out the FB page of the victim...here was so high on coke that it saved his life...tard took two .45s and survived.

I can't find the full length unedited video, this one is from a news story. The original video is MUCH more telling and shows the events better.

http://gunguynextdoor.blogspot.com/2...stings-of.html

The shooter is an active member of another forum I am on, and said that he only had one arm free (you can kind of see it in the video, since he is fighting off the assailant with the other hand. As a result, if he didn't have a round in the chamber (much less no magazine in the gun) there is NO WAY he would have been able to defend himself.

good video. it sucks that it has to be unloaded, but like i said before. its either carry and unloaded gun, or take your phone out, call the cops, explain that you are currently being punched in the face, then wait for 4-6 mins for cops to get there.

i'd rather take my chances at needing to use 2 seconds to load a gun than wait for cops (that dont have a duty to protect me anyway).

Oh absolutely, I would rather have a sharp pencil for defense than have to rely on police arriving on time, but I know you see my point....the problem with the video you posted is...

1)If you have one hand free, you are SOL.
2)Under extreme stress and a dire situation, you would not be able to load that. I can actually load my glock FASTER than that video shows, but again, in a REAL dire situation who knows.

problem - drawing unloaded gun with only one hand to use
solution - Pistol bayonet!

a few of my guns-

Hahahaha, love the bayonet. I have a surefire x400 on my glock19. Unfortunately, no carry at all in NJ. On a sidenote, what kind of mini 1911 is that? Looks like a Kimber if my eyes don't decieve me....how is the reliability? I have been looking for a quality 1911 and narrowed my choices down to a Kimber, a Springfield, or a Nighthawk Custom.

I normally have a glock light on my glock but i went to the gun shop one day and the guy showed me the bayonet and i had to have it.

It's a kimber ultra covert II. 3" barrel, i love the gun. the advantage to a full sized is the weight and obviously accuracy. the weight makes the gun more controllable, the kimber ultra lines have aluminum frames so they are really light. the accuracy is pretty damn good for being so short though, at 7yrds or so i can keep my groups to about 2-3 inches.

if night hawk is in your budget, go for it. if you dont care about budget and just want quality id say go for a wilson combat.

i had typical FTEs and FTLs during the first 300 or so rounds, but since then its been flawless. i have about 800 down range now.

springfield has a lifetime warranty which is a great selling point, kimber has a 1yr but anyone will tell you that they will take care of you well beyond that. dunno what night hawks warranty is but i know they are great guns, beautiful too.

i think in order of quality highest to lowest - night hawk, kimber, springfield, but they are all good IMO.

The short barrel makes for a nice boom.

Sweet, thanks for the info. i was told by a few people to check out Wilson Combat, so I will add that to my short list. As for budget, typically, I don't spend that kind of money on a single handgun. However, I do want to own one "look at me" piece, so I can be the envy of my friends. Obviously I have a glock as a SHTF tool, and if my life depends on it, I would pick a glock EVERY time, but I do want to own a "garage queen" as well.

my 1911 has done well enough to be my bedside gun. the glock now sits in my bug out bag.

Wow. Some of the posts in here are ridiculous.

Comparing guns to kimchi? Comparing guns to backpacks?

Open up your eyes. If you really *ARE* pro gun rights, then your best bet is not to kick and scream at every given opportunity, but instead to realize the FACT that guns make people uneasy, and that you may be under higher scrutiny than someone not carrying a gun. Choose your battles, guys. In the end, this video showed almost as pleasant an interaction as possible with a cop in this day and age. Be happy for that.

Take everything to extremes, make patently ridiculous analogies, expect to get your way by shouting the loudest. I'll take "people who make normal gun owners look bad" for $500, Alex.

inb4 politics

Btw, I support the right of citizens of this country to open carry AND I believe we should have concealed carry laws in every state. I just think arguing that you shouldn't have to explain yourself to a cop WHILE open carrying is silly. Suggesting that people calling in 911 that someone has a gun are crazy... yeah. No. People who open carry should expect that reaction in our society today. We don't walk around with guns, this isn't the old west... people WILL be upset/scared if you run around open carrying your 44 magnum like dirty harry. They aren't crazy. They're normal. You're within your rights to open carry, but acting all surprised that a cop wants to verify you aren't a nutjob... really... really. Pick your battles, people. When they start telling you you can't open carry... that's when you should be getting all upset.

Nate, I dont get how you can turn a blind eye to the phenomenon (of which there are many video examples in this thread) where cops use their position and authority to scare people (taxpayers who cops ought to help & serve) into being submissive. I dont know exactly what the laws are, but it seems so childish how the prevailing attitude is "you want to talk back to me and threaten my authority!" Their pride is being wounded, plain and simple. When your pride gets stepped on, do you lash out and threaten the person harshly? imo, cops ought to be courteous to the people they serve until there is an actual reason to be "mean." this is kindergarten stuff and i dont understand how you can be ok with it as an adult.

This issue is entirely separate from the whole open carry issue. There are many reasons why a cop might choose to be a royal dick.
-Shitty job, seriously. They deal with cracked out idiots and thugs all day, every day... abusive husbands... crazy homeless people... you name it. I've noticed even good cops tend to be extremely cynical and sort of assume everyone is a criminal.
-Shitty people, also a problem. Some cops became cops just because they had basically f@#kall else they could do, and hey, it pays better than fast food. Plus you get to boss people around! Yuck yuck. This one is especially true in rural areas...
-Same as everyone else who is a dick in their daily job... bad day... PMSing... need to get laid...whatever.

When you deal with an asshole cop, and they do something legitimately messed up, file a complaint or talk to a lawyer about filing a civil suit. All you can do. I think there needs to be a hell of a lot more oversight in our country, because I'm with you... we should not have to be afraid of a cop deciding to beat the shit out of us or arrest us for nothing just because he's having a bad day. The fact is, far too many cops do incredibly awful things and then just get paid leave or a transfer to another area.

Also, inb4 politics. Again.

I hate cops because they enforce unconstitutional laws and also because people being forced to pay for police "protection" via taxes is clearly extortion, especially when cops have no duty to protect you.

Calling cops when someone is going to kill you won't really help. They will most likely just show up as an investigatory service as to now your murder took place.

From a previous thread. This guy has alot of rage against police.

Youre from TN man, i doubt you know much about CA gun law.

I dont have rage against police, Ive interacted with cops a lot and I know a few personally. I get along with the ones that I know and I rarely get into trouble when I have encounters with cops in the street. I get along with cops on an individual basis, its their organization that i hate.

I hate the job that they do, and I hate that they are willing to do it, especially after taking an oath not to. Im a huge supporter of what America was intended to be and what was laid out for this could-be great country by the founding fathers. The idea of America has been trampled on to the point of feeling good about having your rights politely violated. We will now give up our rights to the point of allowing the government to employ TSA to molest our children and we will do nothing about it.

1st - - "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

http://www.huffingto...s_n_868719.html

2nd - - "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
This really doesnt need an explanation as to how it is being infringed, I think everyone knows that gun "rights" in CA and much of the US are a joke.

Heres an example of a right that hasnt been violated, lucky us!

3rd - - "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

4th - - "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

The OP had a great example of police violating this right. The person may have had a concerned citizen call, but he wasnt doing anything illegal, yet he and his property were searched, and his firearm was seized during his detention.

The Supreme Court, in an 8-1 decision in a Kentucky case, says police officers who loudly knock on a door in search of illegal drugs and then hear sounds suggesting evidence is being destroyed may break down the door and enter without a search warrant.

5th - - "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

as far as the post you quoted from me, i dont see what the problem is?
In 1982, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, held that: “… there is no Constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen. It is monstrous if the state fails to protect its residents against such predators but it does not violate the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment or, we suppose, any other provision of the Constitution. The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: it tells the state to let the people alone; it does not require the federal government or the state to provide services, even so elementary a service as maintaining law and order.” [Bowers v. DeVito, U.S. Court of Appeals, 7th Circuit, 686F.2d 616 (1982). See also Reiff v. City of Philadelphia, 471 F.Supp. 1262 (E.D.Pa. 1979)]

Dont waste you time Koala, these trolls would willingly allow cops into their own homes and rape and molest their family simply because they have been told that a badge = morality and gods word. The fact here is that the constution is being erased and the sheeple are letting it happen.

Read the recent USSC ruling on the 4th amendment...

How many convicted felons and murderers will give a rats ass about any law? The police know this and yet its still illegal to defend yourself. USSA?

Reguardless of the facts, there are many well programmed minds here that will only do and think as they are told. Dare go against that propoganda and they will troll your rep points!
