with an injury like that where clothing and the object is still around the wound, blood will be either contained by the weapon or covered by the shoe and or jeans. This shot was also probably taken very soon after the incident.

Blood came forth in good supply when the javelin was removed, I betcha!!!

 

there was an incident at a highschool a few years back where a kid got hit in the head...which cause that event to get banned from highschools

 

There is a video that you see once in a while on those "Super Spectacular Amazing Video!" type shows of a judge getting one through the shoulder. Some old dude standing out on the field not paying attention and this this flys in a shish-ka-bobs him. Nasty.

The extra-suck is they probably don't want to remove an impaled object until she is fully relocated to the hospital. But they'll want to cut off the extra length (and incidentally grind it around in her foot). Ouch!
