Default The original soup man / Quizno's..- LOL

http://www.originalsoupman.com/

we had one of these in our mall for about 5 months...it never had many customers ($8-$10 for a cup of previously frozen soup ain't working here in Central PA) .... then it was for sale in the paper for $175k (or more...i forget how much...crazy high....)....

anyway... apparently the person went bankrupt and a starbucks is going in it's spot at the mall...

I wonder what the upfront Franchise fee was. Probably $30-$40k like a Quizno's?

we have 3 local Quizno's which were just started 18 months ago.... they were originally for sale for $300k each. ..... all 3 still for sale...now just $150k each.

Yeah these soup places are expensive even for Manhattan. I went once but never again. Soup just shouldn't cost that much.

As for Quizno's, there was an article about this particular franchise in the NY Times. A lot of franchizees are very unhappy after they paid for money and are still waiting for a store (location). Also, places like these tend to nickel & dime the frachizees to death. It's a tough business! I'm not surprised that the prices went down.

At first when i saw the Quizno's in the paper for $300k each I was pretty pissed at myself for not starting one. Someone on this board had mentioned it about 2 years before they actually put any in my area.

now that the price has dropped and the stores are rarely busy I realize they will be lucky to get their $40k initial investment back so I am not pissed at myself any more.

The Soup thing is just crazy.... Hell at Penera you get Soup and Half a sandwich for $6.00 around here....$8-$10 for just soup and they better give me a happy ending with it..

Plus, you'd have your tenants' kids working at your store(s) if you invested in Quizno's. Talk about being held hostage!

The only work Scot's tenants do is to work the system.

Damn Straight.

I can only think of one tenant that isn't working it. There are extra people in all but one of my section 8 houses. If I kick them all out, the next batch will do exactly the same thing anyway....
