Thumbs up Paypal fees?

This may be a dumb question, as I'm new to buying and selling through paypal...

Whydo some people say "3% additional" for paypal payments when they make posts in the FOR SALE forum?

I checked the "fees" section of paypal, and it says that it's "free" to recieve money, and "free" to have that money transferred into my checking account....

Anybody?

You get charged that percentage if you received a payment by credit card with Paypal.

also if you received a cc payment in the past , your account automatically tuns into a premier account and with every payment is now 3%+ no matter if its a CC

what protection? if you are a seller and recieve the money already what protection are you getting by paying paypal to take a credit card? for a buyer i would agree, but thats why you should only buy from trust worthy people.. Paypal protecting people, lol, thats a good one...

Paypal actually has a bad reputation for cheating and using shady means of running their business..

i have personally known a person that went through hell with paypal and had no recourse, thats why i am against giving them my money..

BTW, never keep a balance with them... they are not FDIC insured and if they go under you lose your money...

Paypal is just a quick way of sending and recieving money.. even having paypal protection i have still been screwed over...

The only way to keep yourself safe thru paypal is get a tracking/signature confirmation...

Paypal really is crappy, but it's the best option available.

I had a seller just disappear on me. Never went back to the board, never responded to PayPal claim, just disappeared. He could have died for all I know, but I do know that I did not recieve the product I payed $90 for.
So I filed my claim and since he never responded they sided with me. So they refund my money... $87.30! The bastards took my 3%!

They have us by the short ones and until someone else steps up to offer as good a service (as widespread) with better terms it is going to be this way.

if you use a credit card to pay, then paypal will get charged by the credit card company..... usually the credit card company will charge about 2%.... so PAYPAL is really only making 1% on any payments via CC.

on the $ right out of a bank acccount they are making the full 3%.

I love paypal..... whoever came up with it is a probably a zillionaire now!

where else can you sell something and get payment received so quickly and effortlessly?
