so someone from the market place asked me to send them money through paypal as a gift to avoid the fee..... wont i lose the paypal guarantee. i mean i might as well be sending a check to them right? tho he is rated as a good seller on s2ki but still. is this risky?

 

You won't be covered by Paypal. If you know the person or are sure they are a reputable seller than it should be find to send this way. I have sent lots of payments this way but only if the member is a regular on here and reputable. If unsure send regular and add the 3.5% if they request it.

 

If you're asking if waiving all of your consumer rights, and having zero chance at a refund is risky...

I only do it if I'm comfortable with the person I'm sending the money to. Otherwise I pony up and pay the paypal fee.
