Thumbs up Question for the PayPal experts

I'm selling stuff to someone and I'm waiting for his eCheck to clear, after which I would send his merchandise. Now, I've heard of people faking bank transfers (think Nigerian scam) only to find out weeks later that the funds were falsified. Is this possible with PayPal? Can PayPal demand payment from me after they discover the scam and I've already used up the money? Or is this scenario not possible with PayPal?

TIA.

to play it safe. avoid accepting echek.

too many fraud involving paypal and they will do little to protect buyer/seller. paypal is a greedy corporation, even more worse now that they are part of ebay.

a nigerian can send u a fake echek.

u receive paypal $$.
you then go spend the $$
couple of days later paypal reverse the payment.
you owe them what u took out.

any fraud is possible with paypal. they do little to verify the payment is secured. dont trust the verified account bullcrap. a fraudster is just as smart to hijack a verified account and send you fake $$

IIRC, when an e-check is cleared, the money is actually taken out of the other party's account. That means that Paypal has verified that the bank account exists and there are sufficient funds available.

I've only dealt with an e-check once before, and it turned out fine.
