well camera its like this...

the library is a place for people to find information unobscured by censorship. That is, all people, and all information. It's a database that should not be limited just because you find something offensive.

There is infact a special area "cordoned off for these people" that is, if the people you are referring to are children. Notice how the children/young adult section is segregated? If you have a problem with information the library contains, keep your kid in their section, and dont step on my rights to view information.

Instead of going this route, because as we all know, children wander, it would be prudent to have a section dedicated for internet users, if (the over 18) adult looks up something that may be construed as inappropriate for a younger audience.

this will kepp sensitive people from bitching and moaning so much about something thats none of their concern, and perfectly within the users rights , that is the viewing of uncensored information in a library.

or would you prefer we censor out everything that you deem offensive?

Well then let's take it one step further. What "information" are you gleaning from Debbie does dallas or Behind the green door? You're not viewing for information but rather entertainment. The library has no obligation to provide censor-free entertainment, rather information only.

Viewing pron is meant to be done in privacy, not something open to the public. Those that want to view pron in public should find a peep show.

I'm all for free speach and research but I'd be willing to bet if you're surfing pr0n at the library, you're aiming to fill your mental spank bank.

You believe we should allow people to go to a child friendly public place such as the library and view pornography? On top of that, they should cordon off a special area to cater to these people?

If I ever saw someone looking at that shit in a library we would have a serious problem.
"child friendly"

It has all sorts of books with stuff in it that no child should read.

Nothing public is "child friendly".

That's why mom and dad need to keep an eye on their own damn kids.

I know it takes a village

I was at the bar in TGIFridays we're all drinking having a good time talking about stuff no kid should hear around 10pm and here comes some kids running through the bar over and over again.

I wanted to tell them to "got tell your mother she wants to watch you"

either that or give them some words that would really get their parents attention.

A bar is my sandbox. Keep your damn kids out of there! How would you like it if I sat down in your child sandbox and just sat there. Please I'd be taken away in handcuffs.

A bar is not a place for your damn kids and to the point no place is a place for your kids without supervision.

No I was actually in the bar which is seperate from the resturant and its also illegal to have children in the bar after 9pm .

Who would let there children go running in a bar that is smoke filled with 99% of the people drinking and talking "about sex/drugs or whatever". Your head must really be stuck in the sand if you never noticed thats exactly what adults do when they drink/smoke and have a good time at the bar in your local TGIFridays on a typical saturday night. Its an adult sandbox and kids ARE NOT allowed! Thats why they card the whole table when you sit down regardless of if you or anyone in the party orders a drink or not at the bar! That's right you can't take a 20 year old into the bar with you but these stupid people who think the whole world needs to watch out for their kids allow them to run though it over and over again.

Has our society really become that liberal and open with no sense of shame or ettiquite?
Listen your sense of morality is yours and yours alone, its not mine. I'm not looking at p0rn in the library, nor would I ever. You and I have absolutly no right to shove it down someones throut. Muslem men could easily argue that just bringing up a picture of the typical american woman is a great example of how little sense of shame or ettiquite we have. Religious freaks could argue that that two peice bathing suit is offensive. Don't even get me started on the moron parents that let their 11 year old daughter wear those pants that have writing all over their ass. WTF! We know there are freaks out there so instead of using your head we let them advertise on their ass and run threw bars filled with drunk men and women talking about sex and drugs? Morons. Watch your damn kids and YOU keep them safe, dont rely on anyone else to do it for you. LAZY ASS PARENTS! That doesn't mean I have the right to force the parents to keep there child from walking into a bar. Hell I'm pissed over it and the law is clear but dumb people are dumb people so I say talk to the kids. Tell them to tell their mothers that a stranger offered them candy when they weren't looking. That'll scare those lazy ass parents into watching them, of course the cops might come to arrest you too? When you see some dude in the library looking at p()rn make a comment about how indecent it is. However I and many like me have no tolerence for censorship. Sure I'll feel like vomiting if I see gay p0rn but I don't think the government has a right to censor it.

That being said I'm often confused at why the government doesn't censor the illegal stuff. Force the ISPs to update a list to make sure no one in the US could see it, at least in the conventional way. Maybe they just want to identify whomever is viewing it. I shrug my sholders because it makes no sense that it exists at all on the web in the US.

There are 100's of books on photography that dipict naked men/women and I could have them open when your toddler comes running through the lobby, keep your kid in the kid area that's why its there. More over watch your damn kid it ain't my resposibility stop trying to put it on us.

They weren't done using a public library...
Really, you mean to tell me that no books in the public library mention or where ever used in a paper on the green door? Please! You pick the green door which as many know happens to be one of the most famous p0rn movies ever. It was ground breaking and I'll bet there are lots of writings on it found within the walls of a library that would be excelent for researching the subject.

ha, what a loser.
I see the idiot light was on, so you chimed in.
