the airport is one of my favorite places for exactly the reason you mentioned..variety.

I worked in a retail business years ago and a co-worker (who is a good friend) and I used to write down our initial impressions of people who came in. We would then compare notes and were often amazed that we had written down the exact same thing.

Strangely enough, over time, we came to notice we agreed most often with each other, with the people to whom we had assigned negative traits. Child molester, wife beater, world hater, mean s.o.b. etc etc. And just as strangely we also noticed it had little to do with how a person was dressed or how prosperous they appeared. It was just the vibes they gave off, the look in their eyes, their mannerisms etc.

Now even more interesting...over the last 17 years (by the way we are in a small city of 40k and still good friends) we have seen quite a few of our initial impressions proven true.

Needless to say I am a big fan in listening to the 'inner voice' and 'early warning' system we seem to have held onto from our cave days.
