Perfect beater car, eclipse GSX?
First generation AWD DSM's typically only have problems with the rear differential. Second generation GS-T's and GS-X's typically have problems with the bottom end of their engine, commonly refered to as "crank walk." The rear differentials are of a six bolt design, 2 more than the first generation's rear differentials.
BTW, you can make a manual boost controller for a little over $5. Basically, you need a ball bearing, a spring, and some NPT fittings. Here's a "how to" link from the guys over at C-Speed Racing. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.html HTH.
