Default anyone know how to title a salvage titled car?

i need a winter beater.. i found a 96 accord that was a stolen/recovery with only ignition switch damage. but this car was recovered after the insurance claimed it as a loss. the person who bought it gave up on trying to title it and is selling it to me for $1800. the car runs perfectly with 123k miles! i want to purchase this car and have it re-titled, but i'm not too sure on how to go about it.

i live in new jersey and im totally clueless what to do..

im sure i have to get the iginition fixed and show a receipt.. then i have to get it inspected at the DMV. are there forms i need to fill? how long does this process usually take?

TIA,
brian

It's my understanding that once a car is claimed a loss by an insurance company it becomes very expensive to insure again. Might be something to look into as well.

Its usually impossible to retitle it in your state. The VIN goes on record and can no longer be titles. Do you have any relatives out of state who wouldnt mind titling it for you?
