We seem to have similar personalities, and I was a lot like you going off to college (except I had a beater car). My best advice is if you aren't sure of where you want to go, 2 years in a community college and an associates degree are a good direction. You can pay off the S2k and save up money for a good school. The 2 years also gives you time to figure out what you like- most colleges have general elective requirements that get you involved in a variety of subjects. Friendships will change once college starts- distance and different schools will make a difference in your life, but change can be good. Don't worry about the girlfriend- there's a reason why people break up, and there's going to be a better girl that'll cross your path. When you finally think you might have a direction (degree/university), jump on it- you're lucky that have support if you fall. A good university will give you connections and some experience- that's what you pay for in the end. Take a leap of faith and live life on the inside- not outside looking in. Oh, and don't forget to thank your parents for the wonderful people they are... Good luck and have fun!
