Whatever floats your boat. As long as they arent crappin out a bunch of kids and living on welfare I dont care wtf they do. Does seem like a waste of money though.

I don't want to sound like some PETA freak, but there are plenty stray/abandoned animals out there. hell, the cat I currently have was one I found at work, abandoned...

to me animal cloning seems like people don't want to let go. maybe its the way our culture preceives death....

but my problem lies in the amount of money.... I can hardly see how people justify spending a few hundred dollars on a pet, let along $155k. I rather drive a aston martin than have my dead pet "back"

They are essentially paying for research. I think it's a good thing. I really really agree with Keith too. THat's another issue, but it's been really bugging me.

I wont argue with any of that but my point is if they want to pay $150k for a dog, so be it. They arent hurting anyone and they arent draining society. Like Raj said, they're paying for research, which I would argue is benefiting society.

Im with you on the "go out and get a rescue dog instead" point though.

Here's some thoughts:

How certain are they that it's not just another yellow lab? "Yeah, it's a clone; will that be cash or charge?"

Isn't cancer genetic? If the god (Sorry, dog) really is a clone, won't it be likely to get cancer too?

Agree with Keith and Raj. Their money and they're not hurting anyone. If they had the money and spent $150k to cure their dog's cancer, would that be okay? Is that really so different?

Should we all adopt children instead of reproducing? There are lots of orphans out there.

It's a personal choice. Some people would say spending $$$ for a car is a waste.
