Default PET PEEVE: Taking 2 spots in a parking lot

First there was our user who had the car towed because some biach parked her car illegally next to him when he took the time to park all the way at the end far away. SHE DESERVED IT. When people care about their things and take the time to park far away, it should be respected.

Well what about the a-holes who park and take 2 spots in the lot. I've seen it twice in the last couple of days. One at a busy mall where someone parked their brand new escalade in two spots about 3 spots from the entrance to the building and another not as greivous, but still taking 2 spots.

I wanted to key, spit on, poor my soda on, kick, let the air out of the tires of these vehicles, but my wife kept me in check so I just fumed.

How much does everyone hate this and what if anything do you do about it?

I used to squeeze my beater into one of the spaces if I could so they couldn't get their door open. Did that make me like the minivan woman? I don't personally don't think so because in that case the car was legally parked.

discuss...........

I agree that it's annoying, but if I let it linger as anything more than a fleeting feeling of disgust/contempt I'll die at a young age.

Yeah that also bothers me a lot too. I got a friend who tries and park next to them and he opens his beater door as wide as he can just so he can give them a door ding. I don't agree with what he does but I asked him why he does that and he says, "they parked in two spots so obviously I can't hit them with my door."

Also, people who park illegally in handicap spots really piss me off.

There's a difference between people who park in 2 spots on purpose and those that just can't drive.

The first is probably the owner of a nice car and is considerate of the other people parking by parking way off in the parking lot. They should be applauded.

Then there's the idiot who does like your person and pulls in 3 cars from the front and is over the line enough that no one can park. They should be shot.

it depends for me

in a crowded parking lot where spaces are absolutely needed then, yes it bothers the hell out of me

if it is way out in BFE in a lot that is not dense then I can see where an owner of a car that wanted it protected could take two spots and not get my wrath of emotion.

Not as bad as really fat people who park in handicapped spots. They should be parking at the very end. They get a free ticket and take up spots just because they're gluttons.

I remember one day back when I lived in Austin, parking was really bad at our job. Some guy with an old, crappy corvette took up two spots. I went out at lunch and someone had parked right up against one side of his car. No way that someone could get in that door. There was less than six inches between the cars. The funny thing is, the second car wasn't across the line on the other side of the spot. There also looked to be about two different notes underneath the wipers. I'm sure they were all complimenting his parking technique. I don't remember seeing that car up there again.

As for the people who park way out and take up two spots, why even do that? I just park way out and take up one spot. If you're really parking out that far then you shouldn't have to worry about someone parking next to you unless the lot fills up. Parking in two spots anywhere is just going to draw negative attention to your car. My S2000 is over five years old now and I have avoided door dings. Some of it is luck, but mostly it's just by being smart where you park.
