OK, so I'm getting pretty good at photoshop, but I can't seem to change a blue car to white or silver without it looking weird. I've found the trick to changing a car's color, but it just doesn't work right if the car is a solid color and I want it silver or white. I have seen this done, any ideas?
Thanks
How would I change the first color to white and make it believeable?
So, Wes buddy, the question is...how the frik did you do that? First you outlined the body and took out the fog lights and such, then you did what? I made some car white the other day, but it didn't look as good as yours, I think I just changed the color to some light color, then desaturated it, and then changed the brightness/contrast, how did you do it?
What was that other guys name that was so good with Photoshop?
Yeah, it's easy to take a color and change it, but making a good looking black or white from a color is hard. I basically did what you said. I made the selection, then desaturated it. I then worked with brightness/contrast on that selection until it was white, instead of gray. For the most part on this, it's a matter of being able to visualize what it should look like...not knowing the perfect steps. It helps if you're already an artist. I think my 5 minute job looks weak...but with a little more tweaking (colored reflections on the car) I could make it look perfect.
I'm an artist, have been all of my 31 years, and you are right...it helps to have "the eye". But it also helps to know the shortcuts as pertaining to computer progs, to change colors I used to do things the hard way, now I know how to do them the easy way in 5 minutes.
FWIW, I did less desaturation, increased brightness a bunch and decreased contrast a bit. I also decreased red contrast and brightness a bit more than the rest. I was too lazy to mask it well.
