Two other things to play with:

Image, Adjust, Curves. Pull down in center and tweak shape for selected area.

Image, Adjust, Levels. Move input level marker on far right to the left and move output level marker to right.

If you move too much you will loose definition in the image. You can also get some weird colors schemes by playing with these. Crazy curves give outrageous results.

All the images look quite good for a few minutes work. I love Photoshop!
