it's not making generalizations...it's thinking "hmm, something really sh1tty just happened on some planes a few years back...by a certain group of people...now here's a member of the same group wearing a tshirt that says something like what you'd expect members of that first group to say right before they did what they did."

look, i'm not saying they handled it right. obviously you're offended by it, and he just won a hell of a lawsuit, so sure, what they did was wrong.

if i own a store and members of a race of people come in and tear the place to bits, rob me, and shoot me in the leg...then yeah, the next time a member of that group comes in wearing a tshirt that says "we will not be silent" yeah, i'm gonna pay careful attention. if that's wrong, then i'm wrong. that's how it is.
You are missing the point. It said we won't be silent in ARABIC. Can you translate arabic? To the people on the plane it could have said, I love racists and it wouldn't have mattered, they saw Arabic writing and assumed.

These are the same monkeys that think because we haven't had another attack on the US of that magnitude, Bush did his job and we're all safer for it.

To elaborate...

I've had the pleasure of discussing politics with some people in the past who, argued that Bush was the single reason the US is safe today. The discussion usually went something like...

HIM: Have we been attacked since 9-11?
ME: No...
HIM: I rest my case.

Of course, applying that logic also implies that everyone before Bush also did their job well, as we never had attacks like 9-11 during their terms. This is what reminds me of Lisa/Homer/tiger-repelling rocks...

hmm, really?

just curious.... how many people must die for it to be "like 9-11?" be it 1 person, or 3000 people, how many must die for it to be a travisty?

so your logic implies that NOTHING happened before bush? wow, what flawed logic....

now, what were you saying about nothing happening since 9/11/01? oh, what about these upstanding citizens?

bush gets more bad press than he should. I'm not saying he's perfect, or one of the top 10 presidents this country has seen, but he did better than nixon/ford/carter/bush sr
By "like 9-11" I was referencing the scale of the attack. Sure others have committed crimes or, at the least, attempted to commit them... But being caught in the airport with explosives in your shoe is a little different from knocking down multi-story buildings with hijacked commercial airlines.

I was also talking about these things happening in the US. If you omit "scale of attack" as a factor, that still cuts your verbose post down by more than 50%.

As for the number of people dying, I think 1 death is tragic enough. 2000+ is even more so... But something I would liken to 9-11 would be Pearl Harbor, London Underground bombings, Hiroshima/Nagasaki... See a pattern yet in terms of scale?
