Planet of the Apes
SPOILERS!
Things I didn't like:
- Where'd the horses come from?
- Why doesn't any of the humans remember what happened? (they talk so obviously the survivors from the monkey uprising didn't just leave incognitive children)
- Where'd the Apes and Gorillas come from, they weren't on the ship
- Where did the human female lead get lipstick?
- The ending didn't make sense!
Things I liked:
- Slave trader Ape was hilarious
- Charlton Heston as the dying elder ape (Damn you all to hell)
- Charton Heston ape keeping an ancient gun (no surprise there!) but then damning humans because it's an example of what can be created out of such hate (hahaha!)
- Omages to first film (get your hands off me you damn dirty human!)
- Rick Baker's awesome makeup job.
Overall a fun summer movie with your typical plot holes. Do yourself a favor and see Memento if you already haven't.

I think REMAKES of movies like this are just indications that the well of ideas has dried up in the entertainment industry.
I saw the 1st and 3rd movie (think there were 5). The first had its originality and creepy holocaustal overtones. By the 3rd one, it was just a bunch of talking monkeys.
Leave it to hollywood to regurgitate a classic and throw money at special effects hoping to profit on the next generation's ignorance.

Planet of The Apes easily makes the "5 worst movie" list. Too much hype, zero content.
Seriously, there's nothing good about it. The plot simply sucks. The acting was dull. There isn't anything special about the movie. And the ending just killed it.
KOD looks brilliant compared to Planet of the Apes. At least I can make sense out of the ending, and there are some cool Jet Li fighting scenes.

did anyone really understand the ending. My take on the ending was this:
He really went back in time to earth. He saves the humans. He organizes a truce between the humans and apes. Then after he leaves, all that he had done is forgotten over time and the apes take over again. Thats why when he goes through the space thing and goes into the future, there are all apes around. I think this ending defenitely lends itself to a sequel.
This ending was much dumber than in the original.
