Most [...] movie goers left scratching their heads at the film's cryptic ending. Fox exec Bruce Snyder had this to say on the matter in an interview with Zap2it, "Actually, you're not supposed to be able to (explain it)," he reveals. "If the truth be known, it wasn't really supposed to make sense. It was just supposed to go 'whoa,' make you think. Now is he in another world, did he go back in time, did he get forward in time? The reality is there's no firm answer to that. It's whatever you want it to be. Everybody keeps looking for (the answer), but you've got to remember you just watched a movie about talking monkeys in outer space. Don't look for too much logic, you know."
I thought he had traveled forward in time as the year at the end was accelerating to 2100 something. Could be wrong. We were speculating that somehow Tim Roth (forget the ape name) escaped and took over. Despite the few comedic moments, thought the movie was lousy. Definitely a wait for cable.
Was it filmed in Hawaii? Beautiful scenery in the beginning.

But personally, I like this guys explanation...
[QUOTE]Here is the answer that solves the ending.
What do we know?
1.) We know that the electromagnetic "storm" causes anything going through it to appear at another time point along space-time. (Could be another point in space, could be another point in time, and could be both.)
2.) We know that the chimp went through, and appeared as he did in the movie, during the battle scene.

My fiance and I went and saw this piece of crap over the weekend.
Here's my summary.
Terrible plot.
Terrible acting.
Obvious Hollywood attempt to leave an opening for a sequel.
Great makeup
So-So special effects.
Hot Estella Warren (she has maybe 10 lines in the whole film, so she's obviously decoration and nothing else)
A complete, and utter waste of $12 (2 matinee tickets OUCH!!!).
Keep in mind that I did not go to the film expecting Academy Award material. I expected to be entertained. This pathetic film didn't even do that for me. Kiss of the Dragon (another no brainer action flick, IMO) was 500 times the bubble gum entertainer that Planet was.
Of course, that's just my opinion.

Well, it may not be the best ever, but I really did like fast and the furious.
Hey now, F&F wasn't that bad. I like the earlier version called "Noman's Land" with Charlie Sheen in it from the 80's. Almost the same exact movie with different cars and sisters, etc... Great Porsche chase scene.
