Who knows, maybe the officers felt the girl was a danger to herself; the handcuffs might have prevented a self-inflicted injury that the officers also would have been blamed for since they did not properly restrain a violent child. People really need to take care of their own lives and children and stop worrying about others.

Police Brutality my ass. Did you see the video of this kid flying off the handle? That kid should have had the crap slapped out of her. My mother would have killed me for doing that.

The school could not discipline her because they were afraid of a lawsuit so they called the cops. What the hell were the cops supposed to do? Give her a time out while she jumps around on top of desks and kicks and hits the officers? The handcuffs did not cause her any harm. the parents need to get their ass kicked for raising such a little monster kid.

EXCUSE ME. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN HANDCUFFED? Thankfully nothing happened to this little girl, but with some of the idiot cops around, they could have easily broken both of her arms off. The amount of twisting that they do while putting those handcuffs and the pain that it causes is unbearable even for adults sometimes. If any of you have kids, or have ever had any, imagine seeing someone do that to your 5 year old. Yes, she got out of control, but I can remember at least 10 times that I've done that when I was a little kid. As a matter of fact, we've all done it (or should have at some point or another). It's just human nature. This was in no way the correct response to this problem, and I hope the cops that put handcuffs on this little girl get fired for doing something so stupid. There are other ways to deal with little kids, none of them as violent. How hard is it to hold down a 5 year old with your arms? A 5 year old girl nontheless. I have a 10 year old boy cousin that likes to fight me from time to time and he's no problem to hold down even when he's pissed off. You can say whatever you want, but deep down I believe that if I was to see that happen, I would flip out.

She punched someone therefore is violent, she deserved to be handcuffed. Nothing would be said if she was 20 years old, how does this differ? The same rules apply IMO.
Violent? You're so ignorant. All little kids are "violent" at some point or another. It is their way of expressing their feelings. Oh man. You mean to tell me you never punched someone when you were little. How hard can a 5 year old girl punch? Are you out of your mind?

schools nowadays have the zero tolerance policy..sorry to be mean but i think that little girl should be put in jail for a couple of hours!!!! hahah okay i'm a little harsh..well i was watching it on some news broadcast and what that article fail to show is that the little girl was really trying to hit the teacher, she was also endangering herself (jumping on tables and whatnot). police was called upon due to the zero policy and was handcuffed (they had no choice but to put her in handcuffs or face what you guys call police brutality). now check this out, they interviewed the mother and she is the type of person who thinks everyone is after her... the little girl was sitting right next to her mother and couldn't stay still for one second.

shoot the police??? dude are you crazy your just asking for more trouble...they would have gunned you down anyway, shape, or form. your just letting them test their guns out.

Is there a video we can all see of the handcuffing? If not you're just speculating on the part about the handcuffing. No reasonable person would handcuff a 5 year old girl the same way you would a resisting adult.

I'm advocate of dishing out the same type of punishment, or at least something analogous for minors. I was severely torn when the death penalty for minors was banned. If the cops treated this kid differently because she was a 5 year old, that in it of itself is unconstitutional and THAT would enrage me more than anything.

Of course, my opinion of the handcuffing would be contingent on seeing the video and seeing if they used unreasonable force.

Easily broke both her arms off???????? HHHMMMMMM, never been handcuffed, but watched the vid and the officers used as much care as was possible with the child. She was never in any danger of having her arms broken, much less broken off. I read somewhere else that the school called the mom and she refused to come to school until 3:15pm and the incident happened before lunch. It would be difficult to hold her down until 3:15pm.

Yep, she is outta control. Nope, I never acted liked this, and I will wager that most ppl haven't.

No wonder quality applicants for teaching positions are finding other careers.
