Police Brutality
Well I wouldn't call what happened polic brutality. Police brutality is when the cops kicked the shit out of Rodney King. But the cops were overly aggressive towards a 5 year old. Handcuffing a kid is too much, they should have tazered her instead. That would have looked great on national TV.
Regardless the little brat should get a good spanking at home.

.......................Plus, when they handcuffed her she seemed to be sitting in the chair calmly...

EXCUSE ME. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN HANDCUFFED? Thankfully nothing happened to this little girl, but with some of the idiot cops around, they could have easily broken both of her arms off. The amount of twisting that they do while putting those handcuffs and the pain that it causes is unbearable even for adults sometimes. If any of you have kids, or have ever had any, imagine seeing someone do that to your 5 year old. Yes, she got out of control, but I can remember at least 10 times that I've done that when I was a little kid. As a matter of fact, we've all done it (or should have at some point or another). It's just human nature. This was in no way the correct response to this problem, and I hope the cops that put handcuffs on this little girl get fired for doing something so stupid. There are other ways to deal with little kids, none of them as violent. How hard is it to hold down a 5 year old with your arms? A 5 year old girl nontheless. I have a 10 year old boy cousin that likes to fight me from time to time and he's no problem to hold down even when he's pissed off. You can say whatever you want, but deep down I believe that if I was to see that happen, I would flip out.
One of my friends just commented about how the nanny on one of those shows makes it sound like its the parents fault that there kids are out of control. OF COURSE IT IS. If you're a crappy parent your kid is going to be out of control if your a good parent your kid will behave. This crap that its just how they are born has been disproven 100's of times and we can see that in these shows.
F the kid. Backhand her once.
j/k
If the cops forcefully held her down, ppl would really scream brutality. If I was her father I would be ashamed of the f*cked up job I did raising her. The little brat needs a spanking (bare hand, not a whip). No kid should be allowed to act like that.

Yeah,..... when she heard that the police were on the way, THEN she calmed down. You can hear them talking on the vid. She knew the police wouldn't tolerate her behavior. So, then she chilled out. By handcuffing the child, they kept her from injuring herself (who knows when she would have started up again) and also taught her that she can't act this way. DHS needs to take a look into this child's home life.
What should have happened is the cops should have stayed with the little shit until the parents came to pick her up. What were they thinking that arresting a 5 year old kid wouldn't cause an uproar? No question the parents need to be fined or punished somehow for raising such a monster.

Violent? You're so ignorant. All little kids are "violent" at some point or another. It is their way of expressing their feelings. Oh man. You mean to tell me you never punched someone when you were little. How hard can a 5 year old girl punch? Are you out of your mind?
I have been trained in so called non-violent intervention. The holds and restraints used in theis technique are designed for people of roughly equal size. I would never try to use themon a child because the body mechanics are wrong.
The police woould not have significant training in this type of retraint and would have treated an adult engaged in that type of behavior with a billy club or a tazer brfore cuffing them. Given the level of the tantrum I saw on the reports and that this had been gioing on for some time,. the police acted very appropriate;y.
Of course the parents are blaming the police, the school, anybody but their bratty kid or themselves for allowing her to ac this way. If she'd been a special class due to diagnosed emotional /mental health problems, the staff would have been trained to deal with this. NOthing I've heard or read suggests this, however.
She was being a destructive, malicious little twit and got much less than she deserved.

Well after seeing the ENTIRE video on the internet just now, I'm changing my opinion... the little shit deserved to be handcuffed.
Did you people see how she was hitting or trying to hit that vice principal lady and tearing stuff off the walls?
