Default Police and Ku band....

At about 3am i saw RadarBusters on TV and they said that Ku radars will be manufactured and sold to the United States (currently they are used in Europe).

I'm doing some research on this so I'm not fully educated on it. I've been looking and Beltronics already has radars that detect Ku band. I think RadarBusters said that the Escorts can be sent in i forgot. However i looked on the V1 site and detectors with serial numbers 0600 and above can be programmed to detect Ku or might already have that detection.

I just wanted to warn some of you and maybe get some insight on this.

Sorry if any of this is incorrect please correct me.

According to the Escort radar company (makers of the passport 8500 radar), the rep said that they're currently not offering any software reprogramming upgrades. She said that Ku was tested in certain areas and was found to be less effective than Ka for example. She called it a step backwards. Her words...

Anyhow, she said that when and if they do come out with an upgrade, it'll be posted on their site and would cost approx $50...

When I called, I told her I had the older 8500. The software reprogramming would be about no more than $50 is what she said.

Ya I looked at the GHz of the Ku vs Ka and its much lower... I'm no radar expert but I think I can say that the higher the GHz the more power/accuracy/whatever there is. I have an officer at my school who is transfering to traffic I'll ask him when school starts again.

Turned on Ku a couple years back with my V1 just in case.

It's big -- but it's the best.
