Politics -
drogers,
Did you stop to think that perhaps it was a RESPONSE to your thread that got it dismissed? It may not have been your words or thoughts that got that thread stopped, but some response you evoked that caused the moderators to "nip that thread in the bud" so to speak.
Or, perhaps, the timing was just bad and they had decided to stop any politically topical threads right about the same time that you had posted. It is, after all, their perogative to maintain this site in whatever manner they feel best serves the community that this forum is intended to benefit.
It's probably a big conclusion to jump to, thinking there is some sort of anti-American or anti-President bent towards the moderators trying to keep this a comfortable and enjoyable forum for all of us.

Yes, this thread was moved
Your sig doesn't offend me, I can't imagine it offending anyone.
I think that HondaGal is obligated to respond to what you're saying here and perhaps offer an explanation as to why your post was deleted. HondaGal?
Darren, I hope you will stick around as I personally value your presence here on these forums, and I'm sure others do as well.
On an aside (not directed AT you, Darren, but to anyone reading this), I would like to reiterate the the whole point of the No Politics rule (if I understand correctly) is that we need to remind ourselves to be more open-minded in situations like this, so as to avoid getting into conflicts and differences of opinion that would cause these S2000 forums to be overriden by drama between individuals. These forums should always be full of posters with positive attitudes so that discussions can come and go freely on a lighter note. Just my two cents.
OT is not a political forum. S2000 International will not provide the space for political topics.
I will post when I find out about darren's thread.

In response to drogers thread being moved:
The Reason: The thread was moved because of being political and "nipping in the butt" This thread was deemed as a potential thread heading down the wrong track. Many threads have been removed from this forum because of going over board, and representing the potential to go to far. Political threads are targeted at all members. "If I posted about our Prime Minister, and how he is doing a wonderful job due to the tragedy" or 'I am proud to be a Canadian, because my Prime Minister is....." This thread would be removed as well. There will be no favourtism. The moderators and admins come from all areas, we have to be impartial, and we will be. We are still going through the threads in OT to clean it up.
S2000 International has international representation. We must respect all who participate on the site. The OT forum is a place to go for light hearted topics. Have fun in OT. OT is not a political forum, we will not supply a political forum.
To reiterate the reasoning for easing up on the political ban, was out of compassion for our members. We realized as a world, we have all been affected one way or the other. It was thought some would like to be able to vent and explain their tragedy. Within two days things got out of control. Some events took place off line of S2Ki. They were reported back to me and because we were being soft on the political policy these events that happened were deemed caused by our miss-judgement. It is our duty to support all members in their needs. When things go to far, we need to step in. As I said before, I will take the brunt of all flaming and critisim.
If you go back to the beginning of S2000 International.. two years ago, the sole purpose and goal was to provide a source for S2000 Owners to learn about their cars. Today we have a large number of members, and this goal has not changed. We are still finding out about our cars, we are helping the new members, we are setting up local clubs, and holding national events. Alot has come from this site, and it will continue to grow. I am not saying that every post refering to September 11th's tragedy will be removed. Each thread will be reviewed by the moderators and super moderators. We are trying our very best to make this community stronger. Let's put our political views aside, and continue to develop our community.
thanks
Shelley.

This online community is about our common interest, the S2000. True. But we are all human beings. What happened on September 11, 2001 has affected everyone I know to the core. People are saddened and angered by this terrible tragedy. The LAST thing that I want to talk about right now is color choices for the 2002 S2000 or which exhaust is better.
Many members are well educated people who were venting. So what? I agree while personal insults should never be tolerated, I do not understand why you disallow pro-American posts. For fear of an negative reply?
I think we should send our troops over to Afganistan and kill the bastards who are responsible for this tragedy.
Now go ahead and delete my post.
Sad...
In my eyes, you are denying us our most basic freedom, the freedom to express one self. The principle that our great nation was founded on.
So go ahead with your rules and start deleting.

Hi Mav
You ask, "I do not understand why you disallow pro-American posts. For fear of an negative reply?"
I think pro-American posts are offensive to some of our members. Clearly, posts about who was celebrating the successful attack, were offensive to some members.
There are some members who were very vocal about shutting down this discussion. They have complained about receiving threatening e mails from other members. I don't believe this, and think it is a false charge intended to initimidate the moderators into shutting down this conversation.
They complain that the crank calls they have supposedly received and the insults they've heard directed toward Arabs are as evil and "wicked" as the attacks themselves, the attacks which have killed somewhere between 5,000 and 20,000 people.
I posted before that it seems that it's OK to talk about the attack, but not the people who supported, financed, organized and committed this atrocity.
Do you get a sense of a certain surreal lack of balance at work here?

You guys are all right... things are really weird in this country now and it's going to take some time to regain a sense of normalcy. The status quo has been disrupted in most areas of our lives, and the last thing some of us want is for S2Ki's status quo to be disrupted as well. All I know is in the aftermath of this tragedy, I slowly started getting the very bad feeling that some people on here were fostering hard feelings between each other because of all this. IMO, it doesn't matter who is right and who is wrong, or if there is even a way of determining that kinda thing. I simply don't want to see hard feelings *amongst* us.
Am I wrong to believe in the "why can't we all just get along" cliche? Maybe I'm just talking for the sake of talking.

Wooah, Hold on a sec here. Nobody is denying you your basic freedom to express yourself. Where did you get the idea that S2Ki is a communist government huh? You can say anything you want. Just not here, get it? Also note that the word "INTERNATIONAL" is in the title above you. This is not an American board, nor a Canadian, nor a Japanese, etc. This is for everyone. Around the world. Believe me I know that you are upset, as am I, and millions of others.
Why do you feel the need to express every view you feel here? why do you feel like your civil rights have been violated because you can't post what you want.
From day one, the rule of thumb here is NO POLITICS. do you want to know why? I'll tell you. It is one of the few things that can truely divide people.
Here we are a community of owners and enthusiats of a car. It's funny how I posted not long ago how I was utterly amazed by how a car could pull so many people together as one. I have met many friends because of this. Based solely on a comman interest. To now bitch moan and complain about how you have been opressed, when this is not and never was the intention of this forum is out of line.
I won't delete your post. I as a mod and very lax in this regard. I welcome a differance of opinion. but please spare me the downtroden lines of how this is your right. You're damn right it is, but mind the others around you.
And as to wether the threats to the other members are real or not. Does it freakin matter?
All the posts I've seen about how this tragedy has brought everyone together is misguided. It appears to me that it has brought everyone together in a comman hate for others.
You may be offended by what I have written, If so I'm sorry you feel that way, but after all it is my right is it not? if another moderator choses to delete my post. That is fine by me as well. It should be deleted because instead of posting in the interests of the forum, I've posted like so many others my views which have no place here regarding it's subject matter.

Here is where you are WRONG.
The focus of our common hate is towards those responsible for this tragedy, specifically Bin Laden and his group of terrorist cells and countries/governments who willingly harbor these terrorists. The hate is NOT towards a generalized race or group.
So what's wrong with hating those responsible? For fear that it offends a few members????
Maybe you mods need to also start banning people who display the American flag in their signatures or avatar. Pro-American view or support might offend a few members here.
What a sad and pathetic decision.
And to those few members that are offended by my Pro-American views and my hatred for those responsible, then... well I won't publically say what I really think.
