Post Your Very First Car!

The Sentra SE-R was my first car out of high-school... cheap, dependable, new (warranty so I wouldn't have repair bills)...
had it for 5.5 years, did an engine swap to a factory turbo motor, kept it a year and half after that...
bought my "dream" car -- a Vette. A fantastic 99 Coupe. Had that thing for a little over a year. Then, I got this crazy notion to go back and finish college. So, between that and gas being so freakin' expensive on the west coast, I figured I needed something fun, efficient, etc. I'd always wondered what a ragtop would be like (having a targa top Vette does this to you) and the Miata was a little too small for my comfort level.
The S2000 fit the bill... Thats how I became a member of this fine community. However, after a year of leaving the S2000 sitting at park and ride lots, I came to the conclusion that it was just far too much of a prized posession to be left at commuter lots. A few attempts at vandalism were the final nails in the coffin. As much as I loved the car, I knew that always finding the perfect and safe parking spot were far too taxing. I mean for those of you that work, its great because you know that its fairly secure. At the commuter lot, you risk every lowlife with a bus pass effectively having access to your car. The lots aren't secure. I might sound resentful, but trust me... I ride the bus to school, so I know what kinds of people ride the bus. The thought of them messing with my S2000.... well...
So, whats more low key than the S2000, still new, and offers an amazing level of practicality, fun, performance, etc...
WRX. Wagon costs about 2/3 the insurance of the S2000, is a bit better on gas mileage, has the AWD for those occasional ice days we get here (S2000 + ice = scary!). I am not saying I neglect the WRX, but certainly I don't drive around judging parking spots in looking for the right one. As long as someone is parked and they aren't over the line, thats usually good enough. I try and find an end spot, but if its not possible, I park between 2 of the nicer cars I can find. I do miss the fun of the S2000, but I don't miss the reality of owning a very nice car while going to college and parking in a not so nice place.
Its not that I live in a bad part of down, its just that anyone with a 1.50 can go from a bad part of town to where I park my car...
And, like my insurance agent told me, nobody messes with Subarus...
ahh, memories...
1986. My first car was named RALPH. A 1971 VW Super Beetle.
I bought it at 16 for $350; even before I had my learners permit (New Jersey). I worked on it all winter, stripped the interior, installed a new radio and speakers (custom shelf in the back). Painted the interior bright silver metalic. The outside was Red, when my mother and I went to DMV to register it and the woman asked what color, she replied, "red and rust." The engine ran great. I had to replace the starter, but had fun push starting it...
One day I had to jack it up for some reason... put the jack in, started cranking... BOTH DOORS POPPED OPEN. The frame was so rusty, that it just twisted. I finished a quick de-chroming, filled in with some bondo and took it to Earl Shib's for a deluxe $120 paint job; Bright Metalic Blue.
I maybe spent about $300 total on it, drove it for 3 months (when I finally got my license, and I sold it for $1000 cash.
