Which one are you most waiting for?

I bet a buddy of mine that Lord of the Rings will have a better opening weekend at the box office than Harry Potter. I think I am going to get spanked!

Lord Of The Rings, no question. I'm anticipating that more than I did Episode I.

Do 10 year old Harry Potter fans have the money to see that movie 5 or more times? - NO. Do adult Tolkien fans have the money? YES.

Harry Potter will do respectable numbers, but nothing compared to the Fellowship of the Ring. It won't be any sort of contest, believe it.

Could be interesting. Advanced ticket sales of Harry Potty are going like mad. Some are even predicting that it may dethrone Titanic has the top grossing movie of all time.

I personally see three weeks of solid box office cash but then it will fall rapidly from the ranks.

Lord of the Rings. I never really got into the Harry Potter books at all.

Just saw the trailer for Episode 2. That looks to be another good one too.

In all honesty I'm looking forward to both but have a terrific sense of dread that one or both may not do justice to the book. I would be especially devastated if LOTR isn't up to scratch.... fingers crossed!

Well be prepared for some changes. LotR is just to expansive and wrought with histories that just can't be translated to the screen. It would be really tough for Jackson (the director) to get it all in and if he did it would be doubtful people would understand it.

Arwen plays an expanded role in the movies as well. Jackson studied the Appendices of the book and somehow manage to play up the love angle between Arwen and Aragorn. Plus there is at least one scene (maybe two) in the movie that is not in the book regarding Arwen.

So be prepared for some changes and poetic license.

But... the trailer looks really awesome. Based on the trailers I think he captured the book enough that it will be a great movie.

I guess Harry Potter will have the full trailor for Episode II. That means big numbers from the star wars freaks who will only go to see the trailor.

The Episode I DVD is supposed to unlock something this weekend on the Star Wars web site for Episode II. Of course you need the DVD and an internet connection.
