Both will be huge hits but I think Harry Potter will be the bigger box office hit.

I'll wait outside for LOTR, but Harry Potter will bring in more money - marketing and recent books and fanfare of the younger generation will lure the kids with and without money to the theatres more so than the people that have money and little time to see LOTR.
