It's a pretty weak netbook. It has a Celeron Processor (a very slow one), hence why the price is low. Since you'll already be spending around $200 bucks of your hard earned cash, spend $50 more and get a netbook with an Intel Atom N270 or N280. It's worth it.

yea.. its going to be slow. you'll probably want to upgrade the RAM when you get it. the good thing about the EEEPCs are that they are incredibly easy to mod. also, that celeron processor is junk. hold out and try to get one with the Atom processor at least.

i got the EEEpc 900 with 1.6GHz Atom processor for $180 off woot.com couple months ago. even that was slow (couldn't even play youtube vidz) until i upgraded the RAM.

I have the eeePC 900a with the 1.6ghz atom I picked up locally for $125. I spent $90 to buy a 16gb SSD, 16gb SDHC card, 2gb RAM, and a case.

I use this three days a week for college, and it's a dream. I'm an "expert" Linux user, and the eeePC is fully supported by a great community. The 2gb RAM turned out to be a waste under Debian. I've never touched 1gb of usage, let alone the swap file.

From a cold boot, I can hit the power button, input my login credentials, and be at a fully loaded desktop connected to my wireless router in under 30 seconds. It's not a "slow" machine.

or, you could just get this one for $100 more:

http://blogs.zdnet.com/gadgetreviews/?p=6181

"The Compaq Presario CQ60-419WM will be sold for $298 while supplies last. The notebook has 3 GB of memory, a 160 GB hard drive, a CD and DVD drive, and is pre-loaded with Windows Vista. It also has Nvidia GeForce 8200M graphics, and a 2.10GHz AMD Sempron SI-42 processor."

I dunno how you feel about GNU Linux (Asus Eee), but the Compaq runs Windows if that's a consideration.
