Prices on Flat-panel TVs are dropping...
Story from Yahoo
My question for those who have flat-panel TVs is what do you think of them? How is the picture quality? How do they compare to the CRT Tvs - is the color accurate, how good is the contrast ratio? etc.

Awesome, as long as they're set up properly. Most people don't take the time to do even a basic calibration, so their sets are performing below their potential.
If you buy something now, I'd go for a set capable of 1080p, whic is about the highest definition you can get at the moment.
The picture quality also has a lot to do with the signal from your local cable company. Comcast compresses the signal to death, so of course it doesn't look great. It doesn't look great on a CRT either, but the screen's not usually big enough for you to notice.
I don't watch TV, and a get a fantastic DVD picture on my Samsung 50" DLP.
If you have any particular sets under condiseration, head over to www.avsforum.com and do some research. It's a great site.

i have a 32'' sharp aquos....perfect for me bcs i live in a relatively small place...and in the long run i know itll be my secondary tv...i love the tv...the only issue from my cable provider is that non hd channels tend to look like crap....but hd channels and dvds looks great....xbox 360 doesnt look too shabby either...
I have a 42 inch ED plasma that I am very happy with. I have had it for about a year and 1/2, been thinking of upgrading to a 50 inch plasma. My friend just bought one and it looks great. I am in no rush to buy one since I already have a great looking plasma but if I happen to see a great deal that I can't refuse I won't hesitate in upgrading because I am sold on the picture quality of plasmas.
This is sooo depressing, i dropped a small fortune on these bad boys a few years ago. when i look at prices now i want to
i could have like an lcd in every room plus the bathrooms too.
picture is great with a quality dvd player and the right cables. watching regular tv on these sux though, and some channels that don't broadcast good signals sux too. when its good its great(dvd player or hd tv stations), when its bad it sux.

42 inch LG plasma. 720p. Very nice set, great picture, excellent color. Every imagineable input type, built in cable card slot for digital if you have that. (I run sat)
Downside, not for use with video games. Never had burn in and this supposedly has burn in protection circuitry, but if you watch something like the NFL draft on ESPN with the stationary box on it for a few hours and then shut off the set, that stationary image will have sparkleing pixels for a minute or so after shut off. They have never burned in but it gives you a scare once in a while.

I preferred it vs LCD, Plasma's picture quality.
If I had the cash I would have dropped in on the new samsung 1080P, but in all honestly the market isn't there yet, and it'll be a while before there is enough out there to make it worth having that kind of resolution.
But hooked up to a Blue Ray playing a Pixar flick. It was sexy...
