Default problem with Window XP

Ok, here's my problemo. I have windows XP here at work and in the toolbar that runs across the bottom of the screen I have a bunch of shortcuts. For some reason, theres a shortcut for "My eBooks" folder that keeps showing up. Windows is automaticallly creating both the folder and the shortcut on the toolbar all the time. I could delete both the shortcut off the toolbar and then go into explorer and delete the folder, but before long, it gets automatically created again.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Check your startup folder for anything odd. Then run MSCONFIG from the run prompt and check the startup lists there, looking for an eBook program or a folder of some sort.

I bet its in the registry. If youre still having problems I'll tell you where to look.

Exactly right, but instead of hacking the registry directly. The tool MSCONFIG allows you to check/uncheck boxes to reverse your changes after a reboot. It also makes it so you don't have to hunt through seven layers of folders to get to the run keys. If someone asks this question my advice is always to point to the tool rather than a list of registry keys.

MSCONFIG doesnt always list everything in startup, sometimes keys are in the RUN folder that dont show up in MSCONFIG. Good tool, but not always the solution for getting rid of some of the startup items
