Wow .. what a way to package the wheels. Teawins you're right about the fact that some of those damages are definitely not "shipping damages."

As for those scratch damages, the packaging should have been well enough to prevent it in the first place. Thank god you were not shipping some Volks wrapped like that.

Yeah I'm hoping fedex will help out because two of the four wheels were pretty much unwrapped. The delivery guy literally had to hold together the wheel and shipping label.

Not wanting to dampen your hopes or anything, but I don't think FedEx will do much.

First off did the shipper insure the wheels? Like actually pay $5.00 to insure the $750 (value) of the wheels?

I don't think FedEx will do much because the reason for the damages (even if it was cause during shipping) was due to the packaging. FedEx will just point to that.

I mean say if I were to ship some fraberge eggs and just wrapped them with tissue paper, do you think they will warrant the claim? I know that is an extreme example, but everyone should know things get tossed around (especially heavy ones). It would surprise me if they took the blame for those scratches etc.

Sorry for your situation.

Well yeah he said he filed a claim. We will see how that goes. As far as insurance, I hope he did. We agreed to take care of shipping of our own wheels and I opted for insurance when I shipped mine out. I notified him of this as well...

I used to sell rims on ebay. I packed em just like the how to shows. I would wrap em in plastic wrap and then brown paper. I would put 2 rims in a box and tape the crap out of it. One time i shipped a set of rims to new york and had the same problem. Fed ex beat the crap out of the boxes. The customers said their were damage marks everywhere on the box and dents on the lips of the rims. Mind you these were rims that came off of cars that were on the car lot that only had like 5 miles on them. The sales manager would have us take of the stock rims and put aftermarket rims on and up the value like crazy to make a buck. So needless to say these rims only had pdi miles on them. Anyway long story short. I called fed ex. They told me to email them pctures of the damage and packing material. They also asked me to email them the stated value of the rims. I just went back to parts department and had them print up the msrp on the rims. Fed ex was quick to refund my money which i refunded what the customer payed out of that. I actually made more money with fedex damaging the rims, then I would have if everything worked out right from the start.
