Default Problems with a sale. Please help me resolve.

I just sold a set of wheels for cash ($650) +AP2v2 wheels. Here is the link.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...f=107&t=732211

The buyer and I have excellent communications and we have no problems reaching each other.

The buyer says that he recieved the wheels, mounted them, and said he felt vibrations as he was driving. He then took them to a tire shop to see if they could find a problem. He told me that they said the wheels were bent. He also said the tire guy said that there are marks from the tires showing that the wheels have been "bouncing". He later describes the problem as riding "rough" and doesn't ride like stock. His last message sent me he says, "They still shake my steering wheel".

The buyer immidately assumed that I sent him a bad set of wheels. The problem is that I have had no problems with these wheels. I have taken them to a repair shop to repair a small curb rash. I recall this shop explaining to me that the wheels need to be 100% straight when fixing the curb and polishing the lips out after fixing the curb rashes. If they were not straight, I would need to pay them to straighten them out. I also mounted tires on these a few months ago and had no problems mounting/balancing.

I assume that these wheels were damaged during shipping. This is because I literally took these wheels off right before selling them. If there were any vibration/roughness I would surely know since my suspension is very rough. (He is stock)

I also doubled checked these tires for nails/problems and I'm sure I didn't see any strange "marks".

Right now I'm out of town and will be home tomorrow. I told the buyer that I would call the shipping company to see what they can do. What I'm hoping for is that the shipping company will cover the cost of the repair. I have asked the buyer for pictures of the tire marks/quote for the repair of the wheels. I have yet to recieve them.

I have a feeling the buyer is thinking I'm trying to scam him and that I sold a bad set of wheels to him. I sold these wheels to make extra cash for school and I'm in no position to try to scam anyone. I need also need his AP2 v2 wheels ASAP because my car is riding on a set of bald AP1 wheels.

when getting refinished... they couldve used a crappy cheap, heavy material and now it throws off the wheel balancing.. its prob nothign that more weight couldnt fix.. but still not good.

how much did u pay to get the wheel fixed? maybe this can determine if you got a decent job or not.

It was around $250? I can't remember the exact amount. They did a great job though. I could hardly tell where it was fixed. You REALLY have to look for it, even then its still hard.

But the thing is, the wheels rode fine before I shipped them out. I know my car VERY well and if it had any vibration I would surely of been on alert.

He said he saw no visual damage from the wheels when he put them on. A few scrapes on the back of the wheel but nothing major. I shipped through greyhound. Do you think they will help out? I took pictures of how I packaged them. I thought I did a great job. I'll post them when I get back in town tomorrow.

It was done at Wheel Doctor here in ohio. I heard they are pretty reputable.

Even if they did a bad job, it still makes no sense because I had new tires put on and they were mounted and balanced with NO problems.

Did you ship with tires on the wheels? It'd be pretty hard to damage them. I'd make absolutely sure that it wasn't just a balancing problem. Sometimes wheel weights can fall off in transit.

i didnt realize that.. shipping with tires would make it near impossible for the wheels to get damaged bad enough to effect the ride quality.. you can pretty much rule that out unless he received a totally haggard box. if that was the case im sure he wouldve said something about that.

weights, unless there were about 2lbs of weights, shouldnt make the steering wheel shake that much. i have a pretty fair size curb dent in an xxr wheel that was in an accident on my miata.. steering wheel shakes a little in result.. you can definetly see the dent in the wheel.

The only 2 explanations are that you had a bent wheel on the rear of ur car and he had mounted it on the front of his car by chance.. if there are no visible dents then its safe to assume that your wheel repair shop used a much heavier fill then the original material of the wheel. tho 250 is a little bit on the expensive side to fix a curb rash.. that usually goes for full on wheel repair.

or

the buyer has "buyers remorse"... what is the buyer asking for you to do?

Thanks for confirming that. The wheels came out great.

I didn't ship using boxes. Instead I used the method shown here, http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x3/wheels...tires-rims.html

I'm not too sure what the buyer wants. It's monday and I should be home later tonight. However, I have yet to recieve any pictures of the marks on the tire and quotes from a repair shop.

What do you guys suggest I should do? I would want this transaction to end as smoothly as possible.

I used this shipping method to send wheels and tires to Austrialia and had no problems at all.
