but in the world of electronics it usually means decreased functionality, but incredibly increased price. usually when you get synergy in an item... you end up paying for it out the wazoo...

Take MS Home Media as an example...

It does not burn dvd's in japan just records to HD. Panasonic has the tivo/dvd-r system out now for 1000$ but doesnt have ps2 in it...

Why would you need a PS2 integrated with a tivo/dvd burner? This is a neat idea if it didn't cost twice as much as it should. I'll just stick with my three year old tivo that cost $300 new and my three year old PS2 that also cost $300 new. I do have to change the input on my receiver when I switch between them, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.
