Question about foreign exchange student.
I don't know if anyone or known anyone that's been or gone through this kind of stuff but will foreign exchange students be able to leave/come back to the U.S as they wish AS long as they have the proper documents? AKA the I-20 signed by the school.
My gf is a foreign exchange student from Hong kong, and she wants to go back to hong kong this summer but having to hear rumors and such about not being able to come back to America is the problem. She has had relatives that went to hong kong/main land china and when entering the U.S airport/ immigration service area. They ( her relatives) weren't allowed due to the immigration service saying they were here working/doing other things.
Thanks Alot.

Before leaving the country, student must get signature at the back of I-20 from the international advisor.
Expected date of education completion is printed on I20. Make sure there is enough time left. for example if it says Dec2004, then its all good. If not, have it changed from the advisor.
Student must always be enrolled full time (12 credits). If someone goes home during summer, he must prove that he is going to attend the fall semseter as full-time. So if possible, have your class schedule for fall or fall tution bill printed as a proof just to show those people during re-entry that you have good intentions to be a student etc etc
Also make sure visa is not expired.
So no need to worry and post such questions here. As long as you follow these rules you should be fine. International advisors are there to help. Its there job.

if so, what's the "minimal" amount that has to appear on their?..

(They would ask for financial statements again ONLY if --> you are reapplying for visa or i20. Just in case- if they ask for financial statements, you may show the same old financials that you showed the first time! That could work too)
If you look carefully on the i20, it has a mimimum required amount printed on the front page. varies from college to college. The amount is about the same as your yearly tution bill.
Obviously your student advisor is the best person to talk to!!
